            The Kiwanis Club of Kansas City Kansas West, is an organization of men and women from the Kainsas City, Kansas area that serve the children of our community.  This club was chartered September 11, 1979.  We are 35 members strong and are proud of our service to the community of Wyandotte County.  Such projects are Dictionaries for 3rd graders, Food baskets for needy families at Christmas, provide shoes and school supplies for the homeless students in District 500, provide gifts and sports balls for Kaw Valley Center, have a hayride and weiner roast for students at Kaw Valley, donated funds to the Wyandotte County Park Foundation for accessible playgrounds and PACES for their "Toys for Dottes" fund; donate funds to a local preschool to help provide winter coats and gloves for children, provide funds for the Division 9 project of providing turkeys for the Southwest Boulevard Clinic patients,  ring bells for the Salvation Army, give $9000 in college scholarships, provide helmets for children at our annual Bike Rodeo, have a carseat safety check; work at PACES sorting the clothes closet; and we sponsor a Key Club at Piper High School with a membership of 178 students.  The club also supports Kiwanis International with funds to help with the project of ELIMINATE which is to eliminate Neonatal Maternal Tetanus worldwide.  All in all, this club keeps very busy helping the children in the community.
